Week 2 Results Have Been Posted

Click the Schedule and Standings link to see all the stats from this weeks matches.  I’m missing the scoresheet from the match between Cozy 2 and 90 West 1 on Tuesday.  Cozy 2 is responsible for turning in the sheet.

Also, please include the team number as well as the team name at the top of your sheets. It’s tough to figure out at a glance who is playing who when you only write Cozy vs. Brennans, when there are 4 Cozy teams and 3 Brennans teams.  Also, please include last names of subs and first time players.

Congratulations go out to the following:

8 Ball Breaks – Lawrence Weisdorn (JPs – Tuesday)

Table Runs – 2x Jorge Galeano (Scarlet Lady – Tuesday and Cozy Inn 3 – Wednesday), Dale Kurihara (Cozy 1 – Wednesday), 2x Jose Deloera (Cozy 2 – Tuesday and Brennans 3 Sub – Wednesday)

Honor Roll – Stan Momii (Gabe’s 3 – Tuesday), Matt O’Brien (90 West 4 – Tuesday), Jorge Galeano (Scarlet Lady – Tuesday), Lawrence Weisdorn (JPs – Tuesday), Gip Gipson (Speakeasy 1 – Wednesday), Frank Ybarra (Speakeasy 1 – Wednesday), Dale Kurihara (Cozy 1 – Wednesday), Lori Jones (Speakeasy 5 – Wednesday), Dr John Gushiken (Speakeasy 5 – Wednesday), Rick Regalado (Gabes 2 – Wednesday)

Also, major thanks to everybody who has already paid their registration fees.  More people paid in the first week this year than were paid up at the half way point in 2012 or 2011.  This makes my job much easier, so thank you.  Make sure to check the Who Owes The League Money link under the Schedule, Standings, Scoresheets and $ section to see if your team owes any dues.

New Payout Scale

At today’s meeting, a new payout scale was proposed, voted on, and passed.  You can find the scale by clicking here.

The reason for this scales proposal is…for the past 8 or so years, we’ve had a very top heavy payout curve.  The top 3 teams were getting 65% of the prize fund, and the rest of the teams saw very little difference in prize, so if you were in 8th place, for example, there was no incentive to strive for 7th or 6th place.  This left a lot of teams not enjoying their second half of the season, and in many cases, new teams haven’t stuck around after their first season of play.  The westside 8 ball league used to consistently have 16 teams on each night, and for the last few years we’ve struggled to get more than 10 on Wednesdays and more than 12 on Tuesdays.  It is the hope of many that this new pay scale will give new teams, as well as weaker teams, more incentive to play out the season and keep returning, as there is benefit to placing higher, nomatter what place you find yourself in.

It is still the case that each individual win is awarded $2.50, so there is still a “curve” but the prize fund that is awarded to each team for what place they come in has been flattened out this year.

The net effect of this is, 1st place will get less money, last place will get less money, and everyone else will get a little or a lot more money than they would have last year.

Season 2012-2013 is About to Begin!

Our Pre-Season party will be held at The Speakeasy on Sunday, September 16th at 2pm. If you’d like your vote to count about any proposed changes, please attend.

The season will begin Tuesday, September 18th and Wednesday September 19th.

Please try and pay your $10 individual registration fees as early as possible this season so I don’t have to chase people down for money all season.

Thanks!
